5G Mobile Hotspot: AT&T and Verizon Plan to Launch 5G Hotspots

Verizon and AT&T are all ready to get their 5G network up and running but there is nothing so far really on a 5G smartphone from any manufacturer. ZTE did announce that they will launch a 5G smartphone soon in the US market, but so far there is no saying as when the phone will be ready. So the first devices to run on 5G network won’t really be smartphones, but puck-shaped 5G hotspots that would provide a 5G network for smartphones, laptops or anything like that.

Update: Netgear and Inseego launched 5G hotspots. AT&T and Verizon will provide the 5G network for the hotspot devices. Now you can enjoy high-speed 5G internet with these 5G hotspot devices.

Mr Ronan Dunne, chief of Verizon Wireless said that this year there won’t be any smartphone to support 5G network but most probably there will be mobile hotspots to provide the 5G network. However, it’s not just Verizon. Mr Randell Stephenson, Chief executive of AT&T said that the company is planning to launch to puck like hotspots after its first launch of 5G network in the United States.

These hotspots will be shaped like pucks with antennas that will allow users to connect their mobile devices to the network. Any device with Wifi can connect to this hotspot and use the 5G network on offer by Verizon and AT&T. These devices will be on the market until the first set 5G smartphones arrive. As soon as one phone is launched, all others will follow. However, the first smartphone with the 5G network is something that we will probably see in the first half of 2019. Thus the consumers need to use these pucks to enjoy fast wireless till then.

As far as AT&T is concerned, they have already set the foundation for the development of 5G in 12 cities of the United States. Soon they will expand to the other states too. With this initial growth of 5G connectivity, puck 5G Mobile hotspot from AT&T will soon be launched.
