How to Enable Developer Mode in Windows 11

After enabling developer mode, Windows 11 can install applications from other sources. By default, this mode is disabled. So applications can only be installed from the Microsoft Store. Once you activate developer mode, the following actions will be performed:

  • Installing Windows Device Portal and Configuring Firewall Rules for It.
  • Configuring Secure Shell Services (SSH) Firewall Rules to Allow Remote Installation of Applications.
  • Enables the Windows Subsystem for Linux, which allows you to run Bash on Ubuntu inside the Windows operating system (OS).
