HarmonyOS 2 USA, UK, Europe Rollout: Everything You Need to Know

Recently, Huawei has introduced the company’s own O.S. called HarmonyOS 2.0. The company says it is based on the open-source project OpenHarmony 2.0. The new O.S. comes with a tag line “One As All, All As One”. In China, the software is known as Hongmeng OS. Huawei plans to switch around 100 devices,, including phones and tablets, from Google’s Android O.S. to HarmonyOS 2.0. Chinese Huawei users can experience the new O.S. by submitting applications at the Huawei Club or on the My Huawei app. They can also sign up for the HarmonyOS Experience Officer Program in offline experience stores in China.

Update: It looks HarmonyOS 2.0 is limited to China only. But now we have a piece of good news as Huawei to bring a glimpse of HarmonyOS to select Huawei smartphones through its latest EMUI 12 upgrade outside China. We don’t know what smartphone will receive the EMUI 12 update but we can assume the newer Huawei phones such as Huawei Mate 40 series, Huawei Mate 30 series, and Huawei P40 series.

Will HarmonyOS 2 roll out in the USA, U.K., and Europe?

It should be noted that initially, the new O.S. will be rollout in China, so Huawei users in the West will have to wait. There is no word from the company when Huawei owners outside China will be able to switch to the new HarmonyOS 2 O.S.

U.S. had banned the Chinese telecom giant Huawei from accessing U.S. technologies, including the Android developer program from Google. So, Huawei’s alternative solution was to build its smartphone operating system. Now they have introduced HarmonyOS to replace its reliance on Android.

There is no date for the newHarmonyOSs global rollout yet. In the USA, HarmonyOS 2’s availability is unknown. We will have to wait and see. Also, Huawei’s press release hasn’t mentioned when the rollout will make its way to the U.K. and Europe.
