Windows 11 introduced taskbar widgets that take up most of the screen when viewed, which can be annoying. This is a modified analogue of ” News and Interests ” in Windows 10. This tutorial will show you how to disable widgets in Windows 11 to remove the widget button from the taskbar.
Disable Windows 11 Taskbar widgets
- Right-click on the icon ” mini-applications ” and select ” Unpin from Taskbar .”
- If you need to turn it back on, go to ” Settings “> ” Personalization “> ” Taskbar “, and on the right, turn on the ” Remove widget button ” slider.
You can also remove Widgets from Windows 11 Taskbar using the registry
Press Win + R and type regedit to open Registry Editor. Then follow the path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Advanced
- On the right, find the TaskbarDa parameter and double click on it.
- Set the value to 0 to hide or 1 to show.
Note: This does not entirely remove the widgets from the system since the widgets will be displayed if you press Win + W. It is challenging to cut out widgets since the process is interconnected with Edge and depends on some system processes.
