The Surface Duo arrived in the United States in September 2020. Microsoft has officially put a foot back into the mobile market after long years of absence. The Surface Duo, essentially a dual-screen smartphone based on the Android platform, made many turn up their noses both for the high selling price and for the hardware sector not exactly of the latest generation. The successor that carries code name Zeta and marketing name Surface Duo 2 will arrive this year.

Some of the improvements introduced will include native support for 5G networks, a faster processor and significant advances on the imaging front, most likely thanks to the recent involvement of Ari Partinen of Lumia Photography in the team working on the Surface range.
Surface Duo 2 is not the only device of the Redmond group whose debut is scheduled for 2021. There will also be the Surface Pro 8 already the protagonist of several rumours and Surface Laptop 4 that according to rumours it should be proposed in multiple versions and configurations with Intel and AMD CPUs.
8 JULY 2021: The new Surface Duo 2 should have a slightly larger display with rounded edges and improved cameras. It could be launched between September and October with Android 11 which should also arrive on the first version in the same period.
9 JUNE 2021: Leak reveals the model codenamed as “Zeta”, and it is in the pipeline for almost a year. Surface Duo 2 could be launched between September and October without too many aesthetic changes, but with a hardware refresh that should count on the latest Snapdragon 888 chipset, equipped with 5G connectivity, and Android 11.
